Our history:

In 1981, professors G. and M. Martin together with their teams at the University of Nantes developed a pioneering process to detect the addition of sugar in wine. In 1987, this SNIF-NMR® method led to the creation of Eurofins. The Company has continued to develop the process, now using it to verify the authenticity of wines, liqueurs, fruit juices and vinegar, among others. Being the official method of analysis for a variety of organizations including the European Union (EU) and the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) for wine; the Association of Analytical Chemists (AOAC) for fruit juices, maple syrup and vanillin; and European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for vinegar.

Since its inception, Eurofins Scientific has grown and is currently made up of an international network of over 900 laboratories with operations in 62 countries across 6 continents . It has ca. 62,000 employees and offers a unique range of analytical testing services to clients in multiple industries. With more than 200,000 reliable and validated analytical methods, it performs more than 450 million analyzes each year to establish the safety, identity, composition, authenticity, origin, traceability and purity of biological substances and products.
